Dog Licenses

Michigan Law requires that all dogs be licensed.  In Ogemaw County, all dogs are required to be licensed and have a current rabies certificate.  Therefore, as soon as a dog is vaccinated, a license has to be obtained for the dog.  Dogs can be vaccinated as early as 4 months old, but usually not later than 6 months old (depending on breed).  Your Veterinarian’s office can inform you as to when you can have your dog receive the vaccine. 
 
Licenses are issued yearly and must be obtained by February 28 each year or a penalty will be added to the license fee.  Dog licenses are sold by the County Treasurer’s Office all year round and some Townships/Cities sell dog licenses while collecting taxes.  A dog license application can be completed and mailed to the Treasurer's Office

 
After March 1, dog licenses are available only at the Ogemaw County Treasurer’s Office. You may come in person or fill out a dog license application, mailing in the necessary information and appropriate fee.
 
Fees for dog license:  Dogs that are fixed:         $10.00
                                         Dogs that are not fixed:  $15.00
                                         License after Feb 28:     $30.00

Microchip Implantation and Tattooing

Microchip implantation and statewide tattoo identification registry for dogs is now available.

To acquire more information, you may contact your local veterinarian or Tina Moreno at 517-241-2748.
 


Credit/Debit Card Payments

Ogemaw County Treasurer’s Office is now accepts credit card payments for dog licenses through a service provided by GovPayNet.
 
To pay by debit/credit card, you must call 888-604-7888 or log onto www.GovPayNow.com  (This will direct you to the GovPayNet website).

The following information is needed when making a payment:

  1. Amount for license.

  2. Pay Location Code: 5933

  3. Property Identification, i.e. property address, property owner. Tax ID number preferred.

  4. A valid MasterCard, Visa, American Express or Discover

Please note: When charging your credit card, GovPayNet will add a service fee to the payment amount due. If you have any questions please call 1-888-604-7888. (Live operators are available 24 hours a day / 7 days a week to help you!)
