Our Staff In addition to duties related to the equalization process and property tax administration, department staff are available to assist the general public with land and tax information.

		John R. Awrey Director phone: 989-345-0328 email: jawrey@ogemawcountymi.gov Mr. Awrey has served as equalization director since being appointed in the fall of 1990.  He is a member of the Michigan Association of Equalization Directors, Northern Michigan Equalization Director's Association, and the Michigan Assessor's Association.  Mr. Awrey is also an approved  State Tax Commission course instructor and has taught a number of continuing education courses.
		Jim Oswald Appraiser phone: 989-345-0328 email: joswald@ogemawcountymi.gov Mr. Oswald has been a residential and commercial appraiser with the department since 1990 and is responsible for performing the necessary field appraisals used in the annual equalization study.  In addition, he assists in the maintenance of property description splits and combinations.  On a daily basis, he can be found addressing a variety of departmental inquiries.
		Jozann Burgin Document Specialist phone: 989-345-0328 email: jburgin@ogemawcountymi.gov Ms. Burgin brings to her position a broad background in title and survey work.  Having worked as a surveyor and title researcher over the past 20 years, Jozann's knowledge of legal and survey descriptions lends well to her daily tasks as document specialist.
