Genealogy Inspection of Vital Records Documents As the Vital Records Registrar for the county, the Ogemaw County Clerk maintains records and indexes on all Ogemaw County births, deaths, and marriages.  As such, the county clerk’s office receives requests to view these records for historical and related purposes. All viewing of records on file is subject to Ogemaw County’s Procedures Governing the Inspection of Vital Record’s Documents.   Access to all birth records is confidential unless requested by the named individual, birth parents, a legal guardian of the person named on the record, a legal representative of the person named on the record, an heir if the person on the record is deceased, or a court of competent jurisdiction that supplies a court order.  Anyone is also eligible to receive a birth record if that birth occurred at least 100 years ago.  The county clerk’ office has a limited viewing area for genealogy research purpose. Marriage license cover the time frame 1887 through the present.  The three indexes that are available to the viewing public are Death Index 1876-1947, Marriage Index 1887-1947, and Marriage Index 1970-1987. Death records span the time frame 1933 to present. Certified copies are $7.00 for the first page and $3.00 for each additional page.  Request for searches are subject to a $10.00 “search fee.”  Request forms are available from the State of Michigan for various vital records that we do not have on file.   Our office is open Monday through Friday except state and federal holidays.  Our office hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.  Questions may be directed to Ogemaw County Clerk staff at 989.345.0215.
