House Numbers & Street Addresses Safety in Numbers!   There could never be a more true statement.   Picture yourself as a paramedic being dispatched to the home of a heart attack victim. As your ambulance rushes to the scene with lights and siren activated, you turn onto the road that the 911 dispatcher instructed you to. Time is vital. You begin looking at for the correct address, only to find out that many of the homes do not have address signs at the road.   This frustrating scene is terrible enough for emergency personnel but imagine yourself as the heart attack victim waiting for emergency help to arrive.   Is your address clearly displayed? It could meant he difference between life and death in an emergency situation. Time is important in a life-threatening situation. No one wants to wait for help while emergency responders drive up and down a road attempting to locate the correct address. So remember there are; Safety in Numbers. Having them clearly displayed at the roadway near your driveway may someday save your life or the life of a loved one.   Here is how to take action:   ADDRESS NUMBERS SHOULD BE AT LEAST 3” HIGH AND REFLECTIVE FOR NIGHT TIME. ADDRESSES SHOULD BE POSTED AT THE ROAD NEAR YOUR DRIVEWAY. ADDRESSES SHOULD ALWAYS BE VISIBLE FROM BOTH DIRECTIONS ON THE ROAD. ADDRESSES SHOULD ALWAYS BE CLEARLY DISPLAYED ON YOUR HOME. KEEP TREES AND SHRUBS CUT BACK FOR CLEAR VISIBILITY OF YOUR ADDRESS. Reflective lettering, numbers and signs are available through the Ogemaw County Sheriff’s Posse, local hardware stores and some township halls.
